Andy Warhol

This is what I get for letting Katy pick out her own sunglasses. Egads!

Fun in the Sun

Our nephew, Jacob, was absolutely dying to go to the big, new pool across the street from our neighborhood, so awhile back, we took him, his sister, Taylor, and the girls. It was just about the most fun ever! If you don't believe me, check out these pics.

Mommy tried to teach Katy the fine art of holding her nose. She needs a little more practice. Nevertheless, our little stunt woman (2 years 8 months) BEGGED to go down the slides and went down three of them like a champ. The last time we waited in line with fifty kids and slowly climbed the several flights of stairs to get to the big red slide, she chickened out at the top. Mean ol' Mommy said, "Sorry, we are going anyway!" Thus ended Katy's adventures in riding on the slides for Summer 2007. Oh well, there is always next year.

Jake slip sliding away.

Ditto for Taylor.

Jacob, Ed, Katy and Taylor

Ever feel like some rules are just begging to be broken? Katy couldn't agree more.

In the event of an emergency, feel free to use Mommy as a flotation device.

One happy, little mermaid.

As the sun set, Jenny relaxed in the shallow end with Mom and Taylor. Next year, we are DEFINITELY buying the family pass for the whole summer!

Slippery When Wet

Our play group had one of the best dates EVER recently at the Allreds. There was a baby pool and a neat slip-n-slide and the kids all had a fantastic time. Even Daisy enjoyed it!

It's so cool when your kids are this happy! And it didn't even cost anything. Of course, we haven't seen the Allreds' water bill for July yet....

Cameryn was the only person there young enough to want to slip and slide and old enough to have the coordination to purposely do so--and do it very well! (Too bad it isn't an Olympic sport, huh Catherine?) She kept showing the little ones how it should be done.

Katy gave it her best shot, anyway.

Jenny and Bradie bided their time on dry land until the older kids had released some of their excess energy.

Katy and Vincent chowed down on some yummy snacks while Dylan cruised on the deck. Look, Ma, one hand!

Jenny and Bradie, our junior mermaids, took advantage of the big kids' absence.

After all of this slipping and sliding and splashing, Bradie was so hungry that she ate soggy cheese crackers and Katy and Maggie were happily drinking pool water (not unlike Daisy Girl only moments before), so we went in for a yummy lunch.

Thanks for a wet and wild good time, Maryann!

Christmas in July...er...August

Either Katy is already getting excited about the big guy in the furry red hat OR she just really likes playing dress up.

Whichever it is, she's eager to get Jenny in on the fun.

Taking a Stand

Ready for a SHOCK?

Our little eight month old BABY is trying her best to walk! It all started with the fireplace hearth. She would try and try to stand up next to it and reach all of the yucky stuff inside of our fireplace. Well, she finally made it to higher ground and we have to watch her closer than ever.

She's gotten so good at standing that she can do it with one hand now. She's starting to cruise around the room and look for trouble on a whole new level. (In fact, just today at a friend's house, she was one second from toppling headfirst into the bathtub when I discovered where she had escaped to and I ran in and grabbed her by her ankles. Yikes!)

The after effects of so much work aren't pretty; they're ADORABLE. Way to go, Jen!

Ridin' the Rails with Grandma Rose

Even though Grandma Rose is seventy-bump-bump, she still has enough get-up-and-go to ride the rails with Thomas the Tank Engine and Katy.

Katy loves when Grandma comes over to visit and won't let her rest for a minute! Sorry Grandma Rose! You'll just have to rest when you get home.

Movie Monday

Sometimes Mondays are hard on Mommy, so Reagan and Katy get to watch a movie during Jenny's naptime. This time it was especially fun because Mom made popcorn too. YUM.

Well, Reagan seems to like it anyway.

Family Resemblance

Megan and Sue stopped by for a fun visit a couple of weeks ago. Notice the family resemblance?

Jenny decided to reach out, reach out and touch someone during the photo op.

Daddy and I used to think that people who were involved in open adoptions were kind of crazy but now we know better. When you get to become family with awesome people like Megan and Sue, you realize what a blessing adoption can be for everyone involved. You guys are great!
