The Big Event

The family bus came and picked us up to take us to the BIG EVENT. Mickey and Mommy entertained Katy during the ride.

Looking good, Joshua!

Proud parents, Karen and Joe.

Denephews: Sean, Jason, Brian, and Patrick
Denieces: Stephanie, Denice, and Stephanie

Sean was getting kind of restless during the ceremony so we asked Jenny to entertain him.

Ed left his panoramic lens at home or we could've gotten all of the wedding party in this pic. Just kidding, Guys! What a blessing to have so many great friends.

Group pic of the Chandlees, Cahills, Ellises, Perricones and Mr. and Mrs. Dan O'Neal.
Congratulations Colleen and Dan! God bless you!

Beach Buddies

The Chandlee and Ellis Families got to spend some more quality time together before the big event. We walked along the shoreline looking for shells and enjoyed some homemade hamburgers before heading to the wedding.

Mommy, Jenny, Kathy, Katy and Monica

Monica was the best person to keep Katy safe around the water. She stuck by her like a barnacle on a boat and would just scoop her up when the waves came too close for comfort.

Sisters. Kathy was a doll. She always helped with the girls and even let me borrow her nicest dress to wear to the wedding when my luggage wound up in Canada instead of Orange County.

Pals: Monica, Katy, Kathy and Jenny.

Jenny loved to touch the water and would S-T-R-E-T-C-H as far as a baby can to try and get to it!

Gettin' any bites, Uncle Larry? (Even though he is more at home on Lake Ft. Gibson, Larry did actually catch a few fish. We were all very impressed but not surprised; he's an AWESOME fishing guide here in OK.)

Jess and Jen crack each other up constantly.

Digs

Uncle Joe's dad, Sam, let us stay at his sweet beach house the whole time we were in California. Sam's generosity is the main reason why we could afford to take the girls so many cool places during our stay. Even though he is in his eighties and owns his own prosperous business, Sam provided us with delicious homemade breakfasts, lunches and dinners throughout our stay. He was an amazing host and we were humbled by his generous spirit.

We stayed in the blue beach house; Sam lives in the beach house next door.

Jenny and Mommy check out the bedroom. Aunt Karen provided us with new pillows, towels, soap, lotion, shampoo, beach towels, food, a pack and play and a high chair. It was so much nicer than we could've imagined.

Each morning we had cereal, fresh coffee and donuts as well as eggs, a delicious squash dish and a variety of other foods. Thank you Joe, Karen and Sam! We had a blast visiting California!

Beach Bums

The Chandlee Family recently went to California for our neice Colleen's wedding. We had a fun-filled (albeit, slightly stressful) week of firsts: First airplane ride for the kiddos, first time to travel with kids for Mom and Dad, first trip to the beach, first wedding, first trip to Disneyland, Sea World, etc. Here are some great first beach day photos from our awesome photo journalist: Daddy.

Mommy, Jenny and Katy check out the waves.

Cousin Douglas: body boarder extraordinaire.

Beach babe. Daddy captured Jenny's first time to set foot in the ocean.

Katy is not so sure about this ocean business!

Soaked! Daddy, Cousin Monica, Aunt Kathy and Mommy all took turns last week trying to keep Katy from getting completely drenched by the icy water but she usually ended up soaking wet from the neck down.

Always the good sport, Katy goes back in. I guess she figured she can't get much wetter!

Zoo Friends

Our friends Maryann and Vincent asked us to go to the zoo with them a couple of weeks ago. Megan offered to come with us and she was a great help! Here's a picture of Katy, Mickey, Vincent, Jenny and Megan heading to the zoo.

Getting up close and personal with the elephants.

Katy playing the thoughtful loner.

Water lilies bigger than our kiddos.

Teeter toddlers.

Heck's angels.

Look who's not afraid to let a woman drive.

Catching the 1:15.

Jenny and Megan had a great time riding the train together.

We ended the fun zoo trip with a relaxing carousel ride; it was Jenny's first time to ride it and she was very brave. She didn't cry but did want Megan to hold her throughout the middle part of the ride.

Andy Warhol

This is what I get for letting Katy pick out her own sunglasses. Egads!

Fun in the Sun

Our nephew, Jacob, was absolutely dying to go to the big, new pool across the street from our neighborhood, so awhile back, we took him, his sister, Taylor, and the girls. It was just about the most fun ever! If you don't believe me, check out these pics.

Mommy tried to teach Katy the fine art of holding her nose. She needs a little more practice. Nevertheless, our little stunt woman (2 years 8 months) BEGGED to go down the slides and went down three of them like a champ. The last time we waited in line with fifty kids and slowly climbed the several flights of stairs to get to the big red slide, she chickened out at the top. Mean ol' Mommy said, "Sorry, we are going anyway!" Thus ended Katy's adventures in riding on the slides for Summer 2007. Oh well, there is always next year.

Jake slip sliding away.

Ditto for Taylor.

Jacob, Ed, Katy and Taylor

Ever feel like some rules are just begging to be broken? Katy couldn't agree more.

In the event of an emergency, feel free to use Mommy as a flotation device.

One happy, little mermaid.

As the sun set, Jenny relaxed in the shallow end with Mom and Taylor. Next year, we are DEFINITELY buying the family pass for the whole summer!
