Sprinkler Time

With the sun shining and the weather getting warmer, do you know what time it is?

SPRINKLER TIME!

Daddy and Mommy love these pictures because they prove how much Katy has grown up in the last year. Last summer, Daddy and Mommy put the sprinkler in the front yard and turned it on. Katy stood in her swimsuit on the front walkway screaming her head off. Mommy and Daddy tried to reassure her by running through the sprinkler themselves. Fully clothed, of course. The neighbors stared and laughed.

This year, Katy had a wet, wild and fun time in the Nemo sprinkler even without Mommy and Daddy's help.

But we decided to run through anyway, just for fun!

Go Fly a Kite

A couple of weeks ago, Daddy bought Katy and Jenny a kite. One day, when the weather was just right, we took them to the neighborhood park to try it out.

Mommy and Daddy were kind of nervous that the kite might get away from her, but Katy was immediately confident and wanted to fly solo.

It was very windy! The kite was tossed and whipped in the air.

Even though the soaring kite pulled her across the field...

Katy didn't let go even once!

Jenny took this time to practice her new skill.

Peek-a-Boo!

Mommy brought 'er in for a landing.

Judging by the smiles on these pilots' faces, our excursion was a flying success!

Big Girl Bed...At Long Last

Guess who is in her big girl bed now?

No, it's not Mickey Mouse.

It's Katy!

Katy has done really well sleeping in her daybed. We have had to be sure to really wear her out during the day (which wears Mommy and Daddy out, too!). And bedtime is about an hour later than it used to be.

Not to mention that we've had a couple of relapses. Yesterday at naptime, I went in to get her because she was sleeping so late and *YIKES* her bed was empty! I looked in her crib and there she was. She had put all of her favorite blankets, stuffed toys and her best pillow in her crib, climbed in and fell fast asleep! Old habits die hard. I'm just glad Jenny wasn't napping in that crib!

Rice is Nice

Our little Jenny is really growing up fast! It is hard for us to believe, but she will be six months old on May 24. In an effort to keep her tummy full past 5 A.M., Daddy fed her a bowl of rice for the first time last week. She was all over it like, well, white on rice.

Jenny seems to think Daddy is pretty funny.

Thanks to yummy rice cereal, Mommy and Daddy have enjoyed several nights of peaceful sleep until almost *gasp* 7:00 A.M.!

Babysitting Boston

Jenny's birthmom, Megan, babysits a cute one year old boy named Boston. Megan brought Boston over for a playdate with Jenny and Katy a couple of weeks ago. As you can see, Jenny had a fun time sharing her toys. Boston is quite a little charmer.

As usual, Katy was a little more managerial when Boston played with her toys. ("Managerial" is Mommy's nice word for "bossy and controling.")

After playtime, Jenny was completely pooped! We all really enjoy Megan's visits and look forward to seeing her. It is wonderful to have so many special people who love and care for our little Jenny!

Drowning Worms

After letting Katy's and Jenny's pet turtles go free, we decided we'd let Katy try fishing for the first time. First, Daddy showed Katy how to put a worm on a hook.

Then, Daddy took a minute to explain some of the ins and outs of fishing to our little angler.

Going solo, Katy looked quite experienced already.

These are surely the father/daughter moments we'll remember forever!

When it was her turn, Jenny decided to pass this time.

Mommy offered Katy some of her advice, as well, but to no avail.

Even though Daddy struck out and Katy was skunked on her first fishing trip, Mommy caught about two dozen fish. There was a large puddle full of small fish and, knowing that a few days of no rain would leave these little fishies high and dry, Mommy used a bucket to catch and release some into the pond.

Daddy said that this method was cool but didn't count as fishing. Whatever.
